At Open Coaching, we believe that all voices deserve to be heard
Over a 30-year career, leading and coaching I’ve found that a large part of the challenges people and organisations face, relates to effective communication and to steal a quote, the biggest myth around this is ‘that communication has actually taken place.’
I’ve regularly heard these words from clients
In my work with clients both individually and in teams, I create spaces where all voices are heard. It is often the case that once everyone feels heard true communication takes place.
Once the honesty and equity of voice is there, we continue to develop the psychologically safe space then we can have conversations that matter.
That’s when things get exciting as people can innovate, change, take risks and challenge - Important for all our organisations!
Focus on ADHD
With 35 years of experience under my belt, I've had the privilege of leading teams of all shapes and sizes, brimming with unique and brilliant minds.
But, there's more to my story. I've found myself drawn towards supporting those with neuro-diverse diagnoses, and funnily enough, they've been drawn to me too. As I've journeyed through menopause, I've discovered more about my own symptoms, which may explain why we've had such a powerful connection. Believe me, I’ve been there.
I’m learning all the time both academically and anecdotally.
People have described to me feelings of uselessness, not being good enough, failure, shame and embarrassment.
Late diagnosis creates a build-up of these feelings, leading to this impacting women with ADHD who are already having to work harder in the workplace to reach the same income and positions as men. These impacts are also felt beyond the workplace to home, hobbies, relationships and wellness.
If these are Your thoughts and feelings, they are not unique. Many women feel this way and this is magnified by ADHD. If it was then those 22 days of productivity would not be lost and there wouldn’t be 3 times the drain of women quitting on impulse. And you don’t have to be one of them. Even if you do choose to leave, you are leaving as a positive choice for you because you know you have found an organisation which will embrace your differences and support you because they know your worth. You aren’t lazy, useless and a failure for feeling this way.
You can find support and gain better knowledge and understanding. It is possible to let go of some of the shame and go easier on yourself. With a trusted and educated partner, you can find acceptance and stop berating yourself for things that are beyond your control. And that by working in partnership with someone you can uncover the brilliant women you can be.
